American Heart Association

BLS Provider (aka BLS for Healthcare Provider)

General information: This course is for Healthcare Professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings. This course covers Adult/Child/Infant CPR, two-rescuer scenarios, use of the bag-valve mask (BVM), foreign-body airway obstruction, automated external defibrillation (AED), special resuscitation situations, and other cardiopulmonary emergencies. 

Students Receive: AHA BLS eCard which is valid for 2 years 

The AHA requires that all renewal students bring a copy of their current (non-expired) BLS card to the renewal course.

Heartsaver® Courses

General information: Heartsaver® Courses are for anyone with limited or no medical training who needs a course completion card for job, regulatory or other requirements. Heartsaver® courses are designed to meet OSHA requirements. 

This course is designed to prepare students to provide first aid in a safe, timely, and effective manner. These courses can also be taken by anyone who wants to be prepared for an emergency in any setting.

Upon successful completion of the course, including a first aid skills demonstration, students receive a Heartsaver First Aid course completion card.

Students Receive: AHA Heartsaver® eCard in their email immediately after the course which is valid for 2 years 

American Heart Association

ACLS Provider

General information: The American Heart Association's Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) course is designed for healthcare providers who are directly involved in the resuscitation of a patient in a critical medical setting. Medical providers enhance and hone in skills through didactic lectures and hands-on sessions in simulated scenarios of the care of adults in cardiovascular and neurological emergencies.

Students Receive: AHA ACLS eCard which is valid for 2 years 

The AHA requires that all renewal students bring a copy of their current (non-expired) ACLS card to the renewal course. Students must also complete the Precourse self-assessment and course work.

PALS Provider

General information: The American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) course trains healthcare providers with clinical responsibilities in pediatric critical care. PALS places emphasis on the most recent evidence-based resuscitation science for cardiac and respiratory emergencies existing in infants and children. This program utilizes assessment surveys and megacode scenarios to practice team resuscitation. 

Students Receive: AHA PALS eCard which is valid for 2 years 

The AHA requires that all renewal students bring a copy of their current (non-expired) PALS card to the renewal course.

BLS/ACLS/PALS Provider Update Course

General information:

This AHA Update Course is for students that need to renew their current AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS Certification.

This course is designed for healthcare providers who are directly involved in the resuscitation of a patient in a critical medical setting. Medical providers enhance and hone in skills through didactic lectures and hands-on sessions in simulated scenarios of the care of the pediatric and adult patient in cardiovascular respiratory and neurological emergencies.

Students Receive: AHA BLS, ACLS and PALS eCards which are valid for 2 years

The AHA requires that all renewal students have a copy of their current (non-expired) BLS, ACLS and PALS cards. 

HeartCode® BLS is the online portion of the BLS Provider Course and is completed in 2 easy steps.

Step 1: Complete the online BLS Heartcode® Course at your convenience (Can be purchased during check-out) 

Step 2: Schedule a Classroom Skills Session from the dates and times listed below.

An AHA BLS Certification Card, which is valid for 2 years, will be issued after the successful completion of both steps.

Note: The price of this course only applies to the "Hands-on Skills Session."

An AHA PALS Certification Card, which is valid for 2 years, will be issued after the successful completion of both steps.

The PALS Heartcode® Course can be purchased separately during check-out.

Heartsaver® Online is the online portion of the Heartsaver course when taken in a blended-learning format. It uses a variety of audio and video segments to teach students. After completing the online portion, students attend an Instructor-led hands-on session that focuses on meaningful skills practice.

Heartsaver® Online is completed in 2 easy steps.

Step 1: Complete the online Heartsaver® Course at your convenience. (Note: Select "Step 1" as an option if you have not taken the Heartsaver® Online courses) Please be advised that online products are single use and are non-returnable.

Step 2: Schedule a Classroom Skills Session from the dates and times listed below.

An AHA Heartsaver®  eCard, which is valid for 2 years is issued after the successful completion of both steps.

Note: The price of this course only applies to the "Hands-on Skills Session". The price does not include the online Course. Please select your Heartsaver Course (Step 1) to access the online course and obtain a certificate of completion.

 

 

The BLS Instructor Course teaches AHA policies and procedures along with methods to effectively instruct the BLS Healthcare Provider course and First Aid CPR AED Courses.

This class provides all the requirements necessary to successfully complete the course and receive your instructor certification.

In order to attend the course, the following items must be received (Must be purchase separately): 

  1. Current American Heart Association BLS Provider Card
  2. Online AHA BLS Instructor Essentials Course (Can be purchased HERE)
  3. Online NIHE Training Center Orientation Course (Can be purchased HERE)

Included in the course fee:

  • Course Monitoring (Observed Teaching)
  • Training Center alignment (NIHE - National Institute of Healthcare Education)
  • Training Center annual affiliation fee

BLS Provider Certification is REQUIRED prior to becoming a BLS instructor. You may add the "BLS Provider Course" when you check out and call us to schedule BEFORE the BLS Instructor Course

The American Heart Association requires that instructors align with a training center in order to receive certification and teach classes.
